Along with gallery shows this year, I have been fortunate enough to be asked to show work in an auction coming up as well as the Red Dot Fair in New York City. These auctions and fairs are a great way to get a measure of whats going on in the contemporary art world and to see a lot of work all at one place. The Laguna Art Museum Auction 100 opens their preview February 9th-15th with the actual auction on the 16th. Go to their site ( click my link) to find out more info.
We went to the Red Dot fair in Miami and it was a great showcase of what the gallery world is doing. Most who show there are from New York, L.A. and San Francisco with a mix of international and other regional galleries. Jack Fischer will have some of my work in his space.
RED DOT is open to the public March 27 - 30, 2008 at the Park South Hotel, 122 E. 28th Street between Park and Lexington.

As long as we are on the 'coachella' front, I was reminded of a concert goer that we spotted at Sunset Junction last year at El Cid.
notice the pager, yes pager, on one side and the Marlboro light 100's on the other. Mind you this was 2007. I managed to snap these photos before he caught me. Probably would of body-slammed me to the beat of a Tesla song if he noticed my paparazzi tactics.

We go to the gym about once a month and really it's only an excuse to stop by our friend Dan's store ZELEN. It's a loft built in the 20's that houses an eclectic mix of art objects and one-of-a-kind items. Dan is such a nice a guy he gave us one those peanuts pictured as an engagement gift. On my first visit to the store I noticed a painting by Kate Protage that Dan found in San Francisco a while back. It solidified his good taste in my book and each time we go back, the store has all kinds if eclectic treasures hiding and conspiring to come home with us. ZELEN home store, 8055 Beverly Blvd. L.A.

Jack installing the show...

We got back from SF last night and despite some bad weather everything went very smoothly over the weekend. It was great to be back in the Bay Area and see some old friends and familiar places. Thanks Jack for putting on a great show and thank you all very much for coming and/or checking it out on line. It was a great way to start off the New Year.
