There is still time to see Gregory Crewdson's newest exhibition at Gagosian Gallery in Beverly Hills. His photographs of suburban scapes grab the viewer with distinct lighting, haunting mood and exceptional composition. I am very influenced by his work and recommend checking it out!

I will be teaching two classes in the L.A. area this summer. The first will start in June on Wednesdays at DCA Fine Art in Santa Monica. They have 'Live Draw Events', and a great gallery full of emerging and established Artists. I will be teaching an Intro to Landscape/Cityscape class in oil in their back studio. Its an intimate, relaxed setting and Delia Cabral, owner and proprietor, makes sure all students are treated with first class amenities.
The second class I will be teaching is in Ventura at the VITA Art Center. It's Ventura newest Art Center that doubles as an eclectic gallery space and center to teach children teens and adults. I will be teaching the same oil painting class on Saturdays in August. Please check out there websites and contact them directly if you or someone you know is interested in signing up for a class!

I am trying to remember where I originally saw Australian artist's Ricky Swallow's work, but nevertheless when I did, it grabbed me. So amazingly realistic, humorous, and well executed. Ricky currently lives in L.A. and has shown in the Venice Biennale, Dublin, Austria and most recently The Suburban Project in Chicago to name a few. enjoy some of my favorite works by him...

man oh man, my camera broke, thus the lack of postings. I did manage to shoot these dudes painting on Spaulding Ave, right by my house. Its a 'legal' wall. They go around painting late at night. Not sure what the 'Life is Beautiful' campaign is all about, or why they paint icons, Mohamed Ali, Billy Holiday... whatever though, its cool to see kids paint into the wee hours of the night and they're nice.
Its bike to work week! I didn't see too many bike riders today in rainy L.A. but try to do it once or twice this week if possible. It makes you feel like a kid when you rode your bike to school and its ofcoarse good for the environment, good for traffic congestion, and good for your abs.
